GHOSTWITCH / THE NOCTAMBULANT

THE FALLEN SONS

January 15

8:00 pm

GHOSTWITCH IS A FULL BAND

With nothing more than an acoustic guitar, distortion pedal and a voice, Ryan Gunwitch-Black takes the stage and bashes out a stream of dark, rowdy, riotous songs, stopping only to talk trash about the lack of soul on country radio. The world of GHOSTWITCH is a place where blues legends like Howlin wolf, Charlie Patton, and Muddy Waters drink side by side with Outlaw Country heroes like Hank Sr., Johnny Cash, and Merle Haggard. Throw in a dash of Misfits, Black Flag and Torche and you have the perfect road map for a trip into the underground of Americana.
Gunwitch-Black began GHOSTWITCH primarily to see if he could still write a good song on an acoustic guitar, as his other band at the time, Porcelain Black, wrote primarily on computers. With just a handful of guest spots on friends’ shows and the occasional coffeehouse open mic, Black began building a strong and loyal fan-base who were eager for the GHOSTWITCH recording debut Scared Worse & a Long Time Dyin’. The second album, 2011’s Catharsicyst, was also well-received and features some of GHOSTWITCH’s live staples like “Hand Of God” and “Lyin’ Through My Teeth.” Gunwitch-Black has performed under the GHOSTWITCH moniker on stints opening for Joe Buck Yourself (ex-Hank III bassist) and Bob Wayne & The Outlaw Carnies. He has also opened for bands such as Skeletonwitch, Early Man, Valient Thorr and A.S.G.
Ryan Gunwitch-Black is currently writing, recording and playing in the tiny, dark places where you would expect to find stale smoke, honest music, and strong drink.
