Skyview is an indie space rock band from north Florida. Established in 2007. Members include: Evan Smith (vocals, guitar), Ryan Kirk (piano, synthesizers), Stone Schaefer (bass guitar), and Ethan Thurber (drums).

Think classic 80s bands like Tears For Fears and Depeche Mode meets modern stadium rock bands like The Killers, White Lies, and Muse.

The first record “The Sound of Flight” is mixed with themes of young love, the thrill of adventure, & seeing one’s life path from a higher perspective. With the first record, the band ventured out on three nation-wide tours in 2012 & 2013.

In 2017, Skyview released their second record “Of Love & Despair”. Skyview made it their goal to immerse their second album with themes relating to life struggles, romance, & growing through internal hardship.

In 2019, the band shifted their focus towards a more specific “skyward sound” as they began writing music about early space missions. The inspiration behind this shift of focus was the growing commercial space race and the uprising of NASA’s new Artemis program.

Skyview has opened for: Everclear, Cage the Elephant, Wu-Tang Clan, Taking Back Sunday, Against Me!, St. Lucia, The Cruxshadows, and Cute is What We Aim For.

VISITATION:

“It’s all about the songs,” says songwriter Ray Heekin, shielding his eyes from the midday Florida sun astride his ’64 Harley-Davidson. His childhood sweetheart Christina straddles him with sunburned arms and legs from behind, chin on his shoulder and bare breasts pressed against his back. “If the hook don’t stick, you must acquit.” He revs his engine, and in a flash they are gone
